In 1985, we entered business knowing that no one can be an expert in everything, so we couldn’t be experts in software for Inmate housing, food service, medical & health care services, criminal records, classification and on & on. We decided to specialize in technology for management and control of offender’s money, because we felt that the better you manage the offender’s money, the better you manage the offender.

Twenty years ago, we felt that an inmate banking system should do more than just “count beans” and balance books. We felt it should be used as a tool for the management of the inmate and the facility. We felt that if you knew where inmates got their money and how they spent it, that information would tell you a lot.

We felt that making offenders financially responsible for their behavior was a good character builder; and if they destroyed jail property, they should pay for it; and that tracking inmate debts could be accomplished quite efficiently with the proper technology.

We felt that patterns of canteen consumption were good indicators of the “climate” inside the facility and tested that theory in a maximum security prison with surprising results.

We also knew that, although all prisons and jails were basically alike, no two were the same; so we invested in research and development that allowed CCW to provide custom software services that meet unique needs and provided it quickly.

Twenty years ago, CCW was a new company with little experience. Today, CCW clients are, every day, managing millions for tens of thousands inmates, tracking debt & prioritizing repayments, monitoring & restricting canteen purchases, automatically collecting fees, hooking to ATMs, and tracking when & where they are used.
