Training Philosophy and Programs

At CCW, we believe that a computer system is only as good as its operators, and that user training is the best guarantee that a computer information management system will operate properly. We also believe in what is called Competency-based Training. That means that there is no time line or limit on the number of hours of instruction provided. Training ends when competencies are reached. Our training programs are also customized so that people only have to learn what they need to carry out their job responsibility.

CCW training programs range in complexity from those designed for Staff who know absolutely nothing about computers, to those for Administrators who need to know how to get the most benefit from the system, to those for Technical staff who would like to use source code. They include all aspects of system operations and maintenance, as well as basic hardware operations and maintenance.

CCW issues certification to all persons completing operations courses. Certified Users have unlimited telephone technical assistance privileges.

Administrative Reviews

People with administrative responsibilities are seldom called on to operate and maintain a computer system, but often need to know how the system can best work for them. Instillation of a computer based information management system triggers numerous decisions that have to be made regarding policy and procedure, and administrative reviews provide resources and references on those matters.

The reviews also cover basic system capabilities and limitations which provide administrators with realistic expectations regarding: how fast the system can produce information, what type of information the system manages, how much information the system will hold, and what potential the system has to assist them.

A review is made of the automated features available on the system, which provides administrators with the ability and confidence to produce their own reports and answer many of their own questions.

For those in need, a basic introduction / non-technical review is provided on computer hardware systems. Executive reviews are conducted on site, limited to groups from a single institution and generally range from 2 to 4 hours.
